6-17-14 Moxie has a pending adoption. She will be seeing Ivan and Glimmer every week too.
5-27-14 Moxie Sue comes into rescue as a medical emergency surrender. Moxie had shown up on job site (horse farm) a few weeks ago, and had hung around while being fed the workers lunch as her food. She lost weight, and then completely stopped eating. One of the workers took the dog home around the 22nd and took her to the vet. Several hundred later, still no answer for her not eating. The phone call came over Memorial weekend, and I felt that she should go back to their emergency vet, as I had no idea what the problem was. They continued to force feed her, and brought her here on Tuesday (the 27th) evening. On Wednesday the rescue vet took a look, and found she had a fever, but was unable to determine what the problem was. The next day, the fever remained, and the vet felt that since she seemed to have problems swallowing, that a closer look into her mouth and throat was in order. The vet found that a plastic ribbon-like piece was wrapped around the back of her tongue, and was pretty much strangling her tongue. The vet could not determine how long this piece was, since it was still in the digestive tract, and the tongue was anchoring the piece from moving through. The best the vet could do was to unwrap her tongue, and remove that piece only. With hopes that the rest would pass through. Still being painful, she did start to eat some soft canned food, yet could not drink water yet. A couple of days later, she is taking small amounts of water herself. I've even seen her chewing on a bone! Moxie weighs 17 pounds, is tail challenged, has limited vision in one eye and an attitude now that she feels better.
